Heide-Marie Slezak is an avid performer and voice instructor. Her teaching approach encompasses technique, understanding of text and vocal health. Ms. Slezak's education reflects her knowledge in these areas.
Currently, Ms. Slezak is enrolled at Michigan State University, and looks forward to completion of the Doctorate of Musical Arts in 2010. At Michigan State, she has studied voice under Melanie Helton.
As a performer, Ms. Slezak continues to remain active in the musical community. In the Summer of 2004,she was a participant in Songfest with Graham Johnson. More recent collaborations have included Eccles’ The Judgement of Paris under the direction of Anthony Rooley and Façade directed by Raphael Jimenez.
As a teacher, Ms. Slezak continues to encourage her students to strive for vocal excelence. Heide-Marie Slezak has had an active private voice studio since 1999. Throughout her education she has also had the opportunity to teach private applied lessons. Ms. Slezak has taught in schools and institutions in Colorado, New Jersey, Cincinnati, Florida and Michigan. She is currently adjunct instructor of voice at Spring Arbor University in Michigan.
In the Fall of 2005, Heide-Marie Slezak completed the leveling coursework in speech-language pathology from the University of Cincinnati. She firmly believes that an understanding of the physiology of the vocal mechanism, as well as vocal health is an important aspect of voice training.
Prior to attending the University of Cincinnati, Heide-Marie Slezak began her Doctoral studies at Florida State University. She was a student of Dr. Marcia Porter, and her vocal coaches included Valerie Trujillo and Stanford Olsen
Starting in the Fall 2001, Heide-Marie Slezak taught applied Voice at the Cincinnati Musical Arts Center. She held this position until September of 2003 when she commenced her doctoral studies at Florida State University.
Heide-Marie Slezak received her M.M. in Vocal Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College. She graduated a student of Ms. Lindsay Christiansen's Studio.
